Dal Rice

Ingredients

Rice
- 1 cup
•
Red gram dal/Thuar dal
- ½ cup
•
Onions (small)
- ½ cup
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
•
Garlic
- 10 flakes
•
Whole black pepper
- 1 teaspoon
•
Cumin seeds
- 1 ½ teaspoons
•
Sour curd chillies
- 7
•
Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Ghee
- 2 teaspoons
•
Salt
- as required
Method
1.
Heat
oil
in pressure cooker.
2.
Fry
garlic
till light brown.
3.
Add
small
onions
,
fry
for a minute.
4.
Mix
curry leaves
,
cumin seeds
,
pepper
and
sour curd chillies
.
5. When it turns brown
pour
five cups of
water
and
salt
.
6. When it starts
boiling
add
washed
dal
and
rice
.
7.
Mix
well and close the lid.
8.
Reduce
flame and pressure
cook
for 10 to 12 minutes with the vent weight on.
9.
Serve
hot topped with melted
ghee
.
