Bombay Halwa

Ingredients
•
Corn starches
- ¾ cup
•
Water
- 300 milliliters
•
Sugar
- 250 grams
•
Lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon
•
Ghee
- 5 tablespoons
•
Food color
- 3 drops
•
Cardamom powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Cashew nuts
- 1 tablespoon
•
Almonds (for garnishing)
- as required
Method
1. Take a
mixing
bowl and
add
corn starch
and
water
,
mix
well.
Make
sure that no lumps formed.
2. In a heavy pan
add
sugar
and
water
and
heat
it up.
Stir
well until the
sugar
is dissolved completely and the syrup comes to
boil
.
3. Now
add
the
corn starch
mixture
into the
boiling
syrup and
stir
continuously on low-medium flame.
4. When the
boiling
corn starch
starts thicken
add
lemon juice
and
stir
well.
5. Now
start
adding
ghee
and continue to
stir
well till the
ghee
is absorbed.
6. You will notice that the
mixture
turning silky and transparent and the
ghee
is released from sides.
7.
Add
food color
, powdered
cardamom
and chopped
cashew nut
and
mix
well until the
mixture
start
forming a lump.
8.
Pour
the
mixture
into a
ghee
layered tray and
level
.
9. Sprinkle with some chopped
almonds
and allow it to cool for an hour.
10.
Cut
the
spread
into desired shapes and
serve
.
