Ingredients

Rice

Thuar dal

Tamarind

Salt

Ghee
- 3 tablespoons

Cashew nuts
- 2 tablespoons

Asafoetidas
- a pinch
Ingredients For Masala Powder

Red chillies
- 10
•
Coriander seeds
- 1 ½ teaspoons
•
Fenugreek
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Black gram dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Cinnamon
- 1 inch piece
•
Cloves
- 2
•
Coconut (grated, dry)
- 1 ½ tablespoons
Method
1.
Fry
the "For
masala
powder
"
Ingredients
in half a Teaspoon of
oil
, till light brown, finally
add
dry
coconut
,
fry
for another one minute and
powder
it.
2.
Dice
the peeled
potatoes
, shell
peas
and pressure
cook
till it is three fourth cooked.
3.
Cook
dal
with
rice
by
adding
six cups of
water
in pressure cooker till soft (10 minutes).
4.
Soak
tamarind
and extract thick juice from it.
5.
Heat
oil
and
fry
the peeled
onions
for 2 to 3 minutes.
6.
Add
tamarind
extract and
boil
till raw flavour goes from it.
7.
Mix
salt
,
asafoetida
, cooked
peas
,
potatoes
and powdered
spices
to this.
8.
Pour
this to the cooked
rice
mixture
as soon as it is removed from pressure cooker.
9.
Heat
ghee
,
fry
the
cashew nuts
and garnish on top.
10.
Serve
hot with crisp
potato
chips and
onion
raita.
