Raw Banana Kofta

Ingredients For The Koftas
•
Bananas (raw)
- 4
•
Onion (finely chopped)
- 1
•
Ginger (finely chopped)
- ¾ teaspoon
•
Garlic paste
- ½ teaspoon
•
Garam masala
- ½ teaspoon
•
Bread slices
- 2
•
Hara dhania/Green coriander (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil (for deep frying)
- as required
Ingredients For The Curry
•
Oil
- 3 tablespoons
•
Kadhi pattas/Curry leaves
- 20
•
Sarsons/Black mustard seeds
- ¾ teaspoon
•
Urad dal/White lentils
- 1 teaspoon
•
Onion (finely sliced)
- 1
•
Tomatoes (finely sliced)
- 2
•
Ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon
•
Garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon
•
Haldis/Turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Imlis/Tamarind extract
- ¾ cup
•
Salt
- as required
•
Hara dhania/Green coriander (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon
Method
1.
Boil
bananas
in their skins and for 15 minutes.
2.
Peel
,
mash
and
mix
very well with
bread slices
, using your hand.
3.
Mix
with remaining kofta
ingredients
and shape into balls.
4. Deep
fry
in hot
oil
until golden brown,
drain
excess
oil
and set aside.
5. For the
curry
,
heat
oil
,
add
kadhi patta
, saute and
add
sarson
. Let it crackle.
6.
Add
dal
,
fry
for a minute,
add
tomatoes
,
ginger paste
,
garlic paste
and
haldi
.
7.
Fry
over medium flame until
tomatoes
are mushy,
add
chilly powder
,
salt
,
imli
extract
and ½ cup of
water
8. Bring to a
boil
and
cook
the
curry
for 7-10 minutes.
9.
Add
the koftas gently
cover
and
simmer
for 10 minutes.
10. Carefully
remove
koftas onto a
serving
dish, garnish with
hara dhania
.
11.
Serve
with Lemon rice or Coconut rice.
